Therapeutic Indications Of Peptazol 15 Mg Capsules :

Duodenal ulcers (a sore that forms at the beginning of your small intestine)

H Pylori eradication (bacteria that can live in your gut and cause ulcers) to prevent recurrence of duodenal ulcers

Benign gastric ulcer (a non-cancerous sore that forms in your stomach)

NSAID-associated ulcer (sore that forms in your gut due to excessive use of NSAIDs)

GERD (acid reflux also known as “heartburn”): is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the gullet (“food pipe”) which may become inflamed and painful.

This may cause your symptoms such as a painful sensation in the chest rising up to your throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).

Erosive esophagitis (acid irritation injuring the esophagus): inflammation that may damage tissues of the esophagus, the muscular tube that delivers food from your mouth to your stomach.

Esophagitis can cause painful, difficult swallowing and chest pain.

Pathological hyper-secretory conditions (problems in the gut that cause excessive acid production)

Method Of Administration Of Peptazol 15 Mg Capsules Adults and children:

Recommended dose and treatment duration is individualized based on age and indication.

The usual dose ranges from 15 to 30mg once daily.

Frequency is increased to twice or thrice daily if used for the eradication of H Pylori. Take tablets or capsules before food.

Swallow delayed-release capsules whole. Do not chew or crush tablets or delayed-release capsules.

If you cannot swallow a whole capsule, open the capsule and swallow the contents with a small amount of food or juice.

The soluble tablet form of this medication dissolves rapidly in your mouth with or without water.

Do not break soluble tablets.

Take at the same time every day.

Do not stop taking your medication without consulting your doctor.

Do not take medication if the blister is broken, torn, or missing.

Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.

If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.

If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.

Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

Undesirable Side Effects Of Peptazol 15 Mg Capsules Although it may be rare, some patients may experience undesirable side effects when taking this medication.

Tell your doctor or get medical help if you have any of the following signs or symptoms:

Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing;

tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Signs of low magnesium levels such as weakness, muscle stiffness, and changes in heart rhythm.

Your doctor may recommend periodic monitoring of Magnesium levels if you are taking the medication for a prolonged period of time.

Seizures (convulsions).

Dizziness An abnormal or fast heartbeat.

Jitteriness (jumping and nervousness). Shaking.

Muscle weakness.

Spasms of the feet and hands.

Muscle pain.

Spasms of the larynx (voice box).

Common side effects:

Diarrhea Nausea Headache Constipation Stomach pain Warnings & Special Precautions While Taking Peptazol 15 Mg Capsules Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you develop allergic reactions such as shortness of breath, skin rash, swelling of the face or neck, decreased blood pressure and dizziness. Decreased signs and symptoms from the use of this medication do not necessarily mean prevented risk of stomach cancer.

The use of this medication may be linked to Clostridium Difficile diarrhea (a bacterial infection in the stomach that causes diarrhea).

Make sure to tell your doctor if you experience diarrhea.

Prolonged and multiple daily uses of this medication may lead to osteoporosis (weakness of the bones causing fractures) and put you at risk of fractures of the hip, spine, or wrist.

Long-term use of this medication may cause low magnesium levels in your blood.

Your doctor may recommend monitoring your levels at the lab on a regular basis.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medications especially: If you are taking atazanavir (used to treat HIV).

If you are warfarin (blood thinner)

If you are taking tacrolimus (immunosuppressant medication)

If you are taking theophylline (used to treat airway spasms) If you are taking methotrexate (immunosuppressant medication)

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Store in the original package to protect from moisture.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label.

The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
