Gemifloxacin Mesylate is used to treat infections caused by bacteria susceptible to this medicine’s action.
Do not take Gemifloxacin Mesylate
• If you’re allergic to the active substances or any other component of this medicine.
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor about all your medical conditions before taking this medicine including:
• If you have tendon problems.
• If you have heart problems.
• If you have problems in your blood vessels.
• If you have the disease Myasthenia Gravis.
• If you have diabetes.
• If you have liver or kidney problems.
• If you have central nervous system problems such as epilepsy or seizures.
• If you have rheumatoid arthritis or other joint problems.
This medicine might cause serious tendon, joints and nervous system problems.
This medicine might exacerbate your Myaethenia Gravis symptoms. Talk to your doctor.
Possible side effects
Stop using this product and seek immediate medical help if you develop rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Serious side effects:
• Tendon swelling and rupture
• Nervous system problems
• Irregular heart rhythm known as “QT prolongation”
• Worsening of Myasthenia Gravis
• Damage to your blood vessels

• Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs
• Medicines used for malaria
• Medicines used for HIV
• Antacids
• Didanosine
• Probenecid
• Corticosteroids
• Anticoagulants such as Warfarin
How to take Gemifloxacin Mesylate
Take Gemifloxacin Mesylate either 2 hours before or 3 hours after the following medicines: antacids, multivitamins, products that have magnesium, calcium, aluminum, iron, or zinc, Sucralfate and Didanosine.
• This medicine is intended for adults only.
• Take as indicated by your doctor.
• Take with or without food.
• The usual recommended dose is one 320 mg tablet once daily.
How to store Gemifloxacin Mesylate
• Store at room temperature 68 to 77°F (20 to 25°C).
• Protect from light.
• Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
