Mechanism Of Action Of Azithromycin
Azithromycin belongs to the class of drugs known as macrolide antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth.
Azithromycin prevents bacteria from growing by interfering with their protein synthesis.
Therapeutic Indications Of Azolid 250 Mg Tablets
It is used to treat infections caused by certain bacteria and other microorganisms, which include:
Chest, throat or nasal infections (such as bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, sore throat (pharyngitis) and sinusitis)
Ear infections
Skin and soft tissue infections (such as an abscess or boil)
Sexually transmitted diseases caused by organisms called Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoea
Method Of Administration Of Azolid 250 Mg Tablets
You should take Azithromycin either 1 hour before a meal or 2 hours after a meal.
The recommended dose in adults and children over 45 kg is 500 mg taken together once a day, for 3 days.
For some diseases such as Chlamydia the recommended dose is 1 g taken all together on one day only.
For gonorrhea the recommended dose is 1 g or 2 g of azithromycin in combination with 250 or 500 mg of ceftriaxone.
Azithromycin tablets or tablets should not be taken by children weighing less than 45 kg.
Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
Sudden wheezing, difficulty in breathing, swelling of eyelids, face or lips, rash or itching
Severe or prolonged diarrhea
Severe skin rash causing redness and flaking
Rapid or irregular heartbeat
Low blood pressure
